I added a page of sex "Toy FYI's" on my site: www.sugarslipservice.com.  It mentions the most common materials and some safety information.  Most materials are porous and difficult to clean.  You should be using a condom on most...especially if you are sharing toys. The ones I take for my classes are 100% sterilizable!  Can be boiled and are top rack dishwasher safe.  Plus they feel amazing to the touch. 

We at LiP SERViCE use dildos.  Not risking the chance of something breaking in your throat (banana).  They all have a base as well so you'll feel safe knowing it won't slide down your throat (zucchini, carrot, etc).
